As a Tax Account Collections Technician with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, you will make a meaningful difference every day. This position supports taxpayers and their representatives by guiding them through steps needed to resolve delinquent accounts and comply with requirements.

Requirements

• Three years of experience reviewing tax documents and applying tax laws and rules and regulations and making taxpayer liability decisions; or Three years of experience in the collection of taxes; or Three year of experience in the provision of taxpayer assistance which involves the explanation of the application of tax laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the required knowledges, skills and abilities.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment due to access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and compliance with IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075). This includes criminal history reports, fingerprint-based federal records check, PA State Police clearance, local law enforcement checks, and citizenship/residency verification.

Responsibilities

• Assist taxpayers and representatives by explaining tax laws, procedures, and required documentation
• Review delinquent accounts and determine outstanding liabilities, interest, and penalties
• Update tax systems and databases based on incoming information and communications
• Process payments and verify proper application to taxpayer accounts
• Prepare, review, and administer wage garnishment and bank attachment activities
• Research accounts to locate information needed for collection actions or attachment procedures
