About The Position

As a Tax Account Collections Technician, you will be responsible for collecting delinquent taxes by working with taxpayers, employers, and financial institutions through wage garnishment and bank attachment processes. In this role, you will perform the following duties: Taxpayer Assistance: Support taxpayers by explaining requirements and reviewing needed documents Account Review: Research records to determine liability and identify missing filings or payments Record Updates: Enter account changes and payment information into required systems Case Management: Handle wage garnishment and bank attachment cases from creation through follow-up Payment Processing: Apply payments correctly and create vouchers based on the type received Legal Actions: Request liens and assessments when necessary to move cases toward resolution. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week upon successful completion of required in-office training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes). Requirements

  • Three years of experience reviewing tax documents and applying tax laws and rules and regulations and making taxpayer liability decisions; or Three years of experience in the collection of taxes; or Three year of experience in the provision of taxpayer assistance which involves the explanation of the application of tax laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the required knowledges, skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment due to access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and IRS Publication 1075 requirements.
  • Submit to and approve satisfactory criminal history reports, including fingerprint-based federal records check, PA State Police clearance, check of local law enforcement agencies where lived/worked/attended school in the last five years, and citizenship/residency verification.
