About The Position

The Williamsburg Winery is seeking Tasting Room Associates for both full-time and part-time positions. This role involves leading guided tastings, educating guests about the winery's wines and history, and significantly contributing to the growth of the Wine Club. A key aspect of this position is promoting and enrolling new Wine Club members by effectively explaining membership benefits, making recommendations, and encouraging sign-ups.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in wine; previous wine knowledge is a plus, but training will be provided
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable recommending products and asking guests to join the Wine Club
  • Friendly, outgoing, and confident when speaking with guests
  • Previous hospitality, customer service, retail, or sales experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable service to every guest
  • Lead guided wine tastings and winery tours
  • Educate guests about wine profiles, pairings, and Williamsburg Winery history
  • Actively promote the Williamsburg Winery Wine Club and enroll new members
  • Clearly explain Wine Club tiers, benefits, and member experiences
  • Build guest relationships that encourage repeat visits and long-term membership
  • Prepare and serve wine flights according to service standards
  • Assist guests with wine purchases, memberships, and general questions
  • Operate the POS system accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of tasting, bar, and retail areas
  • Restock wine, merchandise, and supplies as needed
  • Complete opening and closing responsibilities
  • Support special events, private tastings, and group experiences
  • Follow responsible alcohol-service requirements and all applicable laws
