About The Position

Target Security Specialists work on the Assets Protection team to help keep guests, team members, and the Target brand secure. They help protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks and preventing and resolving theft and fraud, while building relationships with store leaders and public safety officials, including law enforcement. The role involves supporting a safe and welcoming guest experience, responding to security incidents, using de-escalation tactics, conducting merchandise theft recoveries, and documenting cases according to Assets Protection policies and procedures. Specialists also use Target’s video surveillance system and promote a culture of safety, security, ethical conduct, and compliance throughout the store and its exterior property. The starting hourly rate is $18.00 USD.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Meet any state or local licensure and other legal requirements related to the position.
Have a welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
Be able to communicate using multiple-frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
Have effective communication skills.
Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Be able to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
Remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
Climb up and down ladders.
Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy.
Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds without assistance.
Work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times; report as scheduled, work scheduled shifts, and take required meal and rest breaks.
Work in and be exposed to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing some duties, including Drive-Up and carryout.
Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift, which may vary in length.

Responsibilities

Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by greeting guests, helping them find what they need or resolve issues, and thanking them after transactions.
Support team efforts, assist peers in other areas, and adjust to business and guest needs while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
Assess and maintain safe and secure standards throughout the store, including exterior property.
Respond to security incidents and guest issues in a timely and appropriate manner, and accurately document incidents.
Use de-escalation tactics and available resources when responding to security incidents.
Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as needed, in accordance with Assets Protection policies.
Perform merchandise receipt checks at the front of the store, recognize and communicate trends, and help prevent theft and shortage.
Submit appropriate incident documentation in the case management system according to policy and procedures.
Understand and appropriately use Target’s video surveillance system.
Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; follow safety policies and training, report hazards, and correct them where possible.
Perform other duties based on business needs.
