About The Position

The TAR Softcraft Specialist plays a crucial role in both the planning and execution phases of turnaround projects. In the planning phase, the specialist is responsible for detailed scope verification, including walking down scope, confirming material availability, taking photographs, and documenting job details within the planning tool. During the execution phase, the role transitions to a coordinator, overseeing all contractors working in the assigned area. This includes ensuring accurate and up-to-date reporting of every phase's status, managing contractor progress, monitoring safety practices, and verifying headcount appropriateness for the work fronts. The specialist also collaborates with operations, maintenance, and inspections to identify and address any additional or discovery work, and is responsible for completing necessary documentation like AWR/delay forms. Attendance at rollover meetings and providing status updates on assigned work are also key duties.

Requirements

  • The ability to read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, blue prints, P&IDs, work permits, and technical instruction manuals is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and dexterity in the use of tools and equipment is required.
  • Basic computer skills such as opening, creating and updating content in MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 5+ years of electrical and instrumentation experience is preferred, preferably in an energy related industry.

Responsibilities

  • In the planning phase, walk down scope, verify materials, photograph, and step out jobs in the planning tool.
  • During execution, mobilize into a coordinator role where all contractors performing work in the assigned area will report to the coordinator.
  • Ensure the current status of every phase is accurately reflected in the reporting cycle.
  • Plan / Estimate soft craft activities in job plans.
  • Verify paint / insulation specs on all jobs.
  • Assist scheduler with tying logic and job sequencing.
  • Coordinate with Ops & Maintenance during planning phase if scaffold or insulation removal is needed for field verification.
  • Quote review and validation.
  • Follow all soft craft contractors and verify progress throughout all phases.
  • Work with scheduler to monitor productivity of soft craft contractor through all phases.
  • Monitor all contractor's safety practices.
  • Monitor soft craft's head count and insure it is appropriate for the work fronts.
  • Work with inspections to identify any additional/discovery work.
  • Fill out AWR/delay forms as needed.
  • Attend rollover meetings and status all assigned work.
