About The Position

The Tanker Trailer Mechanic is responsible for promoting safety in all actions, preparing repair orders, and working effectively and safely within the shop area or when making a road call without supervision. This role requires completing records in a timely manner and complying with all DOT regulations, federal, state, local, and company standards regarding personal safety, shop cleanliness, and waste disposal. The mechanic will communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor as required and carry out additional duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or CSC Manager.

Requirements

High School Education or equivalent.
Should possess or be willing to obtain ASE Brake certification within the first 180 days of employment.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
Self-starter with detail oriented work habits.
Meet qualification requirement as stipulated in Section 396.19 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as required to perform vehicle inspections.
Meet qualification requirements as stipulated in Section 396.25 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as required to perform brake maintenance/repairs.
Ability to safely operate tractor/trailer unit within terminal premises.
Technical knowledge as required to ensure proper treatment of various required components that include, but are not limited to: air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheel, and springs: any of which may exceed 100lbs in weight.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time on a concrete floor.
Ability to repeatedly reach above shoulder level an unlimited numbers of times daily.
Ability to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, kneel, squat.
Finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity.
Occasional lifting (up to 100 pounds).
Through knowledge of DOT regulations, federal, state, local and company regulations and standards.
Knowledge of basic company employment policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Comply with and continually update knowledge of all DOT regulations, federal, state, local and company standards and requirements regarding personal safety, shop cleanliness, and waste disposal.
Communicate with Maintenance Supervisor as required.
Carries out duties assigned by Maintenance Supervisor or CSC Manager as required.
Ensure proper treatment of various required components that include, but are not limited to: air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheel, and springs.
Repair as needed specification cargo tanks if the facility has an ASME-authorized U stamp or a National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessels authorized R stamp.
Perform inspections on specification cargo tanks if facility is a DOT Registered Inspector.
Inspect, repair, or replace domes, valves, vents, or other equipment as necessary within safety, regulatory and company standards.
