About The Position

A Tank Washer is responsible for safely ensuring the cleanliness of our fleet and that of our customers tanks.

Requirements

  • Able to work long hours from time to time.
  • Able to work odd hours, nights, and week-ends.
  • Able to be on call and respond to emergencies.
  • Able to work out-of-doors and tolerate cold, heat, rain and weather.
  • Able to climb on top of, underneath and enter iso tank containers and tanker trailers.
  • Able to safely enter confined spaces.
  • Able to perform strenuous work while inside a confide space.
  • Much of this work includes over head scrubbing and scraping.
  • Able to stand for long periods.
  • Able to connect heavy 20-foot-long by 3-inch-wide hoses to underside of tanker trailers. This often requires lifting and pulling while in an awkward body position.
  • Able to lift and carry heavy hoses, fittings, and other equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary to perform various cleaning functions.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
  • Extremely accurate and detail oriented. Does not overlook things and make errors.
  • Able to read and interpret complex paperwork and other data, such as chemical names, order numbers, and rail car numbers.
  • Organized, able to multi-task, tracking several activities at once.
  • Able to handle shifting priorities and constantly changing conditions.
  • Able to work effectively on flexible and varying work schedules.
  • Team player. Able to get along well with coworkers, drivers, and supervisors. Able to settle disagreements professionally and productively.
  • Operate with a Safety Orientation. Uses all protective equipment all the time, follows SOPs, and manages risks so that incidents are prevented.
  • High energy level and high level of initiative. Takes the lead in making improvements to the operation and in getting things fixed as they break down
  • Mechanical ability able to perform basic repairs on boilers, compressors, valves, and other equipment.
  • Able to safely use basic hand tools.
  • Trustworthy, honest, reliable.
  • Able to operate autonomously for long periods of time with minimal contact with supervisors. Can be counted on to show up for work every day and take full responsibility for the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Review and fill out cleaning orders for tankers, containers, hoses, fittings and other company equipment.
  • Use reference materials to determine the proper cleaning method for all equipment and products.
  • Use reference materials to determine the proper disposal methods for heels, rinsate, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Use proper methods to clean the interior and exterior of tankers/ containers, hoses, fittings and other company equipment.
  • Maintain companys standards of clean, dry, and odor free for all equipment.
  • Operate heavy equipment (pumps, forklifts, boilers, compressors, yard tractors, pressure washers) for the purpose of supporting washing and other operational functions
  • Monitor wash rack equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Properly store hazardous waste, making sure it is properly labeled, containers are closed, and stored properly in the hazardous waste area.
  • Ensure clarifier is kept clean and waste water discharge remains with in compliance
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals
  • Maintain organized hose program per company policy
  • Observe all safety and compliance policies.
  • Consistently wear PPE, use fall protection, observe confined space entry rules, and function with safety at top of the mind.
