About The Position

The Tank Farm Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the airport’s fuel storage and distribution facilities. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant storage, handling, and transfer of aviation fuel while maintaining adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The Tank Farm Operations Manager provides leadership to operational staff, manages fuel inventory and quality control processes, and supports airport operations through effective coordination and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, including regulatory documentation
  • Ability to use electronic devices including tablets, computers, and operational reporting systems
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable).
  • Ability to work any day/shift, including holidays, within a 24/7 operation

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in fuel operations, tank farm management, or aviation fueling preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental, DOT, FAA, and industry fuel handling regulations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day tank farm operations to ensure safe and efficient storage and distribution of aviation fuels
  • Manage and lead tank farm personnel, including scheduling, training, supervision, and performance management
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to maintain the integrity, reliability, and security of fuel storage systems
  • Support and promote the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives
  • Ensure hazards, fuel handling risks, and incidents are identified, reported, investigated, and mitigated in accordance with SMS procedures
  • Monitor tank levels, temperature, pressure, and fuel quality to meet airport operational demands
  • Coordinate fuel deliveries with suppliers and logistics partners to maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Oversee the receipt, sampling, testing, and quality control of aviation fuels in accordance with industry specifications and safety standards
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance oversight of tanks, pipelines, pumps, and related equipment to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Implement and maintain emergency response procedures for fuel spills, leaks, or other incidents
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of fuel transactions, inventory levels, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation
  • Address operational issues, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and coordinate timely repairs to minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with airport departments, regulatory agencies, and external partners to ensure seamless fuel operations
  • Monitor and manage the tank farm operations budget, controlling costs while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Evaluate operational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and compliance
  • Train staff on fuel handling procedures, environmental requirements, and emergency response protocols
  • Prepare operational and compliance reports for senior management and regulatory agencies
  • Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving, customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
