About The Position

Under the direction of the TANF Director, the TANF Program Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business operations of a TANF office and staff in a specific geographic area. Ensures all aspects of program are performed in accordance with established policies, regulations and laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Social Work, Public Administration or related field required with (4) years experience in program management, developing, writing and implementing assistance programs including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that will provide the required knowledge, skill and abilities to perform duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of traditional form of government and tribal customs and traditions.
  • Knowledge of applicable tribal, federal, state county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of Tribal TANF Program and Plans.
  • Knowledge of administrative database and program management.
  • Knowledge of the development, preparation and control of budgets.
  • Possess a valid driver license and maintain current vehicle insurance, as this position requires driving.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in management of a Tribal TANF Program.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns, monitors, controls program to ensure quality, quantity and timeliness of cash assistance services; reviews case records prepared by staff for eligibility, accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Assigns, monitors, controls program to ensure quality, quantity and timeliness of wellness services; reviews case records prepared by staff for eligibility, accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Monitors staff performance by preparing evaluations and performs disciplinary action as necessary; keeps detailed records of all factors related to staff performance.
  • Evaluates staff development needs of staff; conducts training; teaches and coaches staff individually and as a group to assist in meeting performance goals.
  • Conducts and participates in program staff meetings and training to keep abreast of changing policies, procedures, regulations and laws.
  • Reviews and approved payroll records.
  • Confers with department management to discuss policies, procedures, staffing and equipment needs, disciplinary matters, etc.
  • Answers inquiries from the public or from other agencies regarding available programs and services; handles complaints from citizens or other agencies concerning alleged actions of subordinates.
  • Participates in community collaborations and coalitions, providing leadership as needed.
  • Prepares and presents information on program and services to the public as needed.
  • Prepares written procedures and desk guides to coach, mentor and lead staff in performing job duties in accordance with program policy and procedures.
  • Conducts surveys regarding program and compiles results into written reports.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports.
  • Models the mission and values of the program into daily job performance.
  • In emergency situations performs staff casework.
  • Performs special projects as assigned by management.
  • Assists with the investigation, written response and testimony required regarding appeals and complaints.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
