About The Position

The purpose of this role is to support GS Construction’s field operations by safely hauling aggregate materials to and from active job sites. You’ll play a key role in keeping water and sewer crews productive by delivering and relocating critical materials throughout the workday.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement and a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience hauling aggregate/clay.
  • Working knowledge of truck and trailer maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with Alberta Transportation and OH&S regulations for commercial driving.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and handling chains, binders, or tarps.
  • Good mobility and balance for frequent entry and exit from the cab.
  • Safety awareness is critical due to working on uneven terrain with moving equipment and open excavations.
  • Willing to learn, promote, and implement GS Construction's culture, core values, and "GS Way" processes.
  • Ability to manage tasks, operate effectively, and remain focused in high-pressure, fast-changing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a tandem axel truck with pup to haul gravel, rock, clay, and sand to and from job sites, including removing excess material to clear space and keep congested areas work-ready.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections, report defects promptly, and maintain accurate logs.
  • Ensure all loads are properly balanced and secured using appropriate chains, binders, or tarps.
  • Communicate with foreman and dispatch to confirm delivery locations, address issues, and adjust to site changes.
  • Operate vehicles safely around active job sites, while following OH&S and Alberta Transportation regulations and company policies.
