About The Position

This employee is responsible for organizing, implementing, and supporting instructional strategies to meet the needs of gifted students in accordance with district priorities, state, and federal law. This employee may facilitate professional development related to the education of the district’s TAG students. Knowledge of K-12 Education, knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction. Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations. Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets.

Requirements

B.A., or M.A.
A minimum of three years of teaching experience.
Holds appropriate licensure with TSPC
Ability to work with children, parents, and school personnel.
Dependable transportation, current driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

Organize, implement, and support instructional strategies to meet the needs of gifted students.
Facilitate professional development related to the education of the district’s TAG students.
Advocate for the academic enrichment needs of all students.
Communicate TAG guidelines to staff and parents in accordance with local, state, and federal laws, and board policy.
Use appropriate assessments to identify TAG students across the district.
Support implementation of best practices for students.
Support implementation of culturally responsive, social emotional learning and trauma informed teaching practices and anti-bias education.
Plan and develop programs or services for the needs of elementary and secondary TAG students.
Partner and plan collaboratively with other TAG teachers for each group of TAG students.
Provide appropriate schedules for TAG students, involving school personnel as required.
Promote effective TAG instructional methods by facilitating staff training in accordance with district requests for training.
Use state, district, and classroom assessment data, and other evidence to monitor annual growth of TAG students.
Effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds.
Consult with district personnel, community members, parents, and outside organizations to promote learning opportunities for TAG students.
Work collaboratively to implement district and program initiatives.
Use technology fluently to manage all components of the job requirements.
Establish open lines of communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community organizations.
Maintain regular on-time attendance.
Be a contributing member of a highly effective team by demonstrating commitment, flexibility, positivity, collaboration and sense of humor.
Perform related duties as assigned by the elementary and secondary curriculum directors.
