About The Position

The OpenAI Deployment Company (DeployCo), OpenAI’s deployment arm, delivers enterprise AI transformation at scale. It partners with enterprise customers to identify opportunities for AI and build solutions using OpenAI models and products.

DeployCo is seeking an operationally disciplined Talent Sourcer to build pipelines for Forward Deployed Engineers—customer-facing software engineers who combine technical depth, business judgment, and the ability to deliver in ambiguous environments. The sourcer will partner with recruiters and hiring managers to understand hiring needs, align on candidate profiles, and develop sourcing strategies as the company grows.

The role combines research, outreach, and experimentation. Success means consistently building a pipeline of qualified, engaged candidates who progress through the hiring process, partnering effectively with the hiring team, and identifying which sourcing approaches lead to strong hires.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of sourcing, recruiting, SDR, or comparable experience.
• Experience building strong engineering pipelines in competitive markets, including among candidates who are not actively looking.
• Understanding of technical roles and the ability to have credible, curious conversations with engineers about their work.
• Ability to recognize relevant skills and potential across different backgrounds, titles, and technology stacks.
• Clear, compelling writing and the ability to build trust through thoughtful candidate interactions.
• Ability to use data and feedback to improve sourcing approaches and prioritize time.
• Initiative, speed, and effectiveness as hiring needs evolve.
• Interest in researching unfamiliar talent markets and trying new ways to reach people.

Responsibilities

• Identify engineers with the technical ability, customer focus, and judgment to succeed as Forward Deployed Engineers.
• Develop creative sourcing strategies across companies, communities, networks, and other channels.
• Track response rates, conversion rates, and pipeline quality, and adjust sourcing approaches based on the data.
• Write thoughtful, personalized outreach that gives candidates a clear reason to engage with DeployCo.
• Conduct initial candidate conversations to understand candidates’ experience, interests, and fit.
• Build and nurture talent pools for current and future hiring needs.
• Partner with recruiters and hiring managers to refine searches using candidate feedback and interview outcomes.
• Test sourcing tools and techniques and turn successful approaches into repeatable team practices.
