About The Position

Providence Health Care is seeking a Talent Recruitment Advisor to provide expert advice and guidance for talent acquisition of both unionized and non-unionized roles. The role involves supporting hiring leaders through the full recruitment cycle, including sourcing, advertising, posting, intakes, prescreening, shortlisting, interviews, reference checks, and employment offers. The advisor will also develop and implement recruitment strategies and work on various recruitment-related programs, campaigns, and special projects such as career fairs and campus recruitment initiatives. A key aspect of this role is ensuring Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) best practices are applied to all hiring initiatives and selection processes. The position operates within a client and family-centred model of care, promoting a safe, respectful, and civil working environment.

Requirements

  • Post Secondary Education and/or Training in Human Resources or Recruitment.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working as a Talent Acquisition/Recruitment Specialist, in a multi-level, multi-discipline organization working with union and non-union hiring activities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of BC healthcare job market trends and sourcing candidates in a competitive market place.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practices as these relate to recruitment processes in the health care industry.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as the ability to work and think independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply EDI best practice in recruitment initiatives.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to work with individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative in problem-solving and arrive at creative solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible attitude, open-minded and the ability to adapt easily to change.
  • Proficient with office and web-based computer applications such as Access and PeopleSoft.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expert advice and guidance to ensure talent acquisition of both unionized and non-unionized roles.
  • Supports hiring leaders with full cycle recruitment including: sourcing, advertising, posting, intakes, prescreening, shortlisting, interviews, reference checks and employment offers.
  • Develops and implements recruitment strategies.
  • Works on various recruitment–related programs, campaigns and special projects such as provincial and national career fairs and campus recruitment initiatives.
  • Ensures Equity, Diversity and Inclusion best practice is applied to the strategies and selection processes for all hiring initiatives.
  • Supports a variety of business units, working with leaders and managers to identify their short- and long-term recruitment needs and develop external recruitment strategies.
  • Works with leaders and managers on external recruitment initiatives and advises on best practices.
  • Stays current on best practices and emerging trends in the job market.
  • Leads or participates in all stages of external recruitment including sourcing, advertising, posting, intakes, prescreening, short-listing, telephone prescreens, interviews, reference checks, and employment offers.
  • Researches and drafts job advertisements, working with Communications and Marketing specialists to ensure ads are appropriately designed for targeted markets.
  • Develops interview questions for all level of positions.
  • Provides advice to international applicants regarding concerns such as work permits, the Provincial Nominee Program, licensing requirements and relocation matters.
  • Liaises with external agencies such as CRNBC, Health Match BC, and Citizenship & Immigration Canada.
  • Responds to inquiries from outside sources such as applicants, agencies, schools and other various organizations.
  • Works collaboratively with the Recruitment team to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Works closely with Lead, EDI, develops inclusive hiring practices and offers solutions to hiring managers to mitigate potential bias in the hiring process.
  • Determines appropriate salary placements for new hires, based on guidelines and collective agreements, to ensure equitable salary analysis and adherence to salary guidelines.
  • Works on various recruitment–related programs, campaigns and special projects involving duties such as: planning, preparing for and attending provincial and national career fairs and campus recruitment initiatives; working closely with leaders and education coordinators on planning and implementing a variety of nursing recruitment programs such as those targeting undergraduate, newly graduated, and internationally educated nurses; participating in special campaigns with other Health Authorities specifically related to nursing.
