About The Position

NBCUniversal is a leading media and entertainment company that creates and distributes world-class content across film, television, and streaming, and brings it to life through global theme park destinations. This role provides HR counsel and support to supervisors, managers, and hourly team members, with a strong focus on maintaining positive employee relations. The position supports the execution of Talent & Culture (T&C) activities, including reporting, communication, analysis, placement, and training for assigned client groups. It also acts as a liaison with other T&C departments such as Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Organizational Development, Payroll, Benefits, Team Member Central, Compensation, and Labor Relations to manage and resolve issues and coordinate T&C processes. The role represents T&C to team members in operational areas and consults with managers on discipline and performance issues, including investigating workplace situations like harassment, discrimination, and policy violations. The Generalist supports decisions related to terminations and other disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and consistent handling of corrective coaching and counseling. They also interact with guests and team members in parks, break rooms, and lead offices to promote positive relations and identify potential issues. Additionally, the role provides advice on employee relations and performance, reviews and approves performance reviews, counseling, performance plans, and disciplinary actions, and partners with Labor Relations to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and assist in grievance resolution. The position involves attending special projects, operational, and HR staff meetings, and providing consultation to front-line hourly team members on benefits, payroll, policy interpretations, and EAP issues. It also guides internal transfers and career path direction, including onboarding plans, intern programs, and seasonal supervisor offers. A key aspect of the role is understanding and participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Management, or related field required
  • 2+ years Human Resources experience in a large-scale fast paced HR environment preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of employee relations, staffing and payroll required.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Solid organizational skills, ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to flex & adapt in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality HR services
  • Ability to objectively coach Supervisors/Managers and Team Members through difficult and emotional issues
  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data and information
  • Independent, self-starter, requiring minimal day-to-day task supervision

  • Base knowledge of company policies & practice
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint, experience with an HRIS (i.e., SAP) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides HR counsel and support to Supervisors/Managers and hourly Team Members, with heavy emphasis on maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Supports the execution of Talent & Culture (T&C) activities related to reporting, communication, analysis, placement, and training for assigned client group(s).
  • Serves as a liaison with other T&C departments including Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Organizational Development, Payroll, Benefits, Team Member Central, Compensation and Labor Relations to manage and resolve issues as well as assist with T&C process coordination.
  • Represents self as ‘face of T&C’ to Team Members in operational areas.
  • Consults with managers and supervisors regarding Team Member discipline and performance issues.
  • Investigates workplace situations, including claims of harassment, discrimination, and policy violations.
  • Supports decision making related to terminations and other forms of discipline.
  • Ensures that corrective Team Member coaching and counseling are handled in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Provides support to Team Members by interacting and communicating with guests and Team Members in the parks, visiting break rooms and Lead offices to promote positive relations and seek out potential issues.
  • Provide advice to managers and supervisors regarding employee relations and performance issues.
  • Review and approve performance reviews, employee counseling, performance plans and other disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure that corrective Team Member coaching and counseling is handled in a fair and consistent manner by leaders.
  • Partner with Labor Relations to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and to assist in resolving grievances.
  • Attends a variety of special project, operational and HR staff meetings.
  • Provides advice and consultation for front-line hourly Team Members regarding benefits, payroll questions, policy interpretations, and EAP issues.
  • Provides direction for internal transfer and career path direction including on-boarding plans, Intern programs, seasonal supervisor offers, and related follow-up paperwork.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
