The Talent and HR Assistant (Summer) provides hands-on support to the Talent and Human Resources team during the peak hiring and onboarding season. This role offers practical experience in recruiting, onboarding, and HR operations while contributing to the successful preparation of staff for the upcoming school year. The position is ideal for someone interested in gaining real-world experience in Human Resources, recruiting, education, or nonprofit operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; current college student or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines at once
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally with candidates and staff.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and responsiveness in a fast-paced, candidate-facing environment
  • Comfort using Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail) and willingness to learn new HR and hiring systems
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and follow through on tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • This role will have access to sensitive personnel and candidate information. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality, use discretion, and handle information professionally is required at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing resumes and supporting the candidate screening process to help identify strong candidates aligned to the organization’s needs and mission
  • Communicating with candidates in a professional and timely manner regarding application status, interview scheduling, hiring steps, and onboarding requirements.
  • Supporting the processing of new hires by assisting with onboarding paperwork, tracking completion of hiring documents, and ensuring new hires are prepared for their first day.
  • Organizing materials and logistics for New Teacher Training, ensuring materials are prepared, organized, and ready for distribution.
  • Printing, assembling, and preparing handouts and materials for New Teacher Training and other summer onboarding sessions.
  • Maintaining organized hiring and onboarding trackers to ensure the Talent and Human Resources team has accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Providing administrative and organizational support to the Talent and Human Resources team during the summer hiring season.
  • Managing multiple tasks and deadlines at once while maintaining strong attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Supporting a positive new hire experience by helping ensure communication, materials, and onboarding processes are clear, organized, and timely.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned in support of hiring, onboarding, and preparation for the upcoming school year.
