About The Position

This 12-month term position offers hands-on exposure to recruitment activities, including events, labor market research, competitive benchmarking, and employer branding. The student will apply industry-leading talent acquisition practices to build a foundation in the field. The role involves analyzing recruiting metrics and trends to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. This position requires in-person collaboration up to five days a week, with the possibility of changes based on business needs. The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn, exhibiting a high standard of excellence, enjoying challenges, and remaining results-driven in a continually evolving business environment. The employee will report to work in person at the WestJet Campus in Calgary.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Human Resources, Human Resource Management or a related field
  • Ability to apply academic learning to a professional work environment
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, goal orientation, and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to present ideas, negotiate, facilitate and problem solve.
  • Team player – works to ensure team goals are met or exceeded.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Must provide high level of customer service to internal and external guests.
  • High degree of diplomacy and good judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment events and hiring campaigns by coordinating logistics, materials, and on-site engagement
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of key talent segments to inform more targeted, effective hiring strategies
  • Benchmark competitor recruiting practices and identify opportunities for differentiation
  • Research talent acquisition trends and recommend practices relevant to WestJet
  • Partner with the Lead, Talent Acquisition & Programs (Corporate) to share student insights and recommend program improvements from a student perspective
  • Interview employees and develop spotlight stories that support employer branding
  • Create social media content that supports recruiting and employer brand campaigns
  • General TA support as required
