About The Position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for managing full-cycle recruitment for a chemical distribution organization, supporting hourly, professional, technical, and leadership roles across operations, sales, supply chain, logistics, safety, and corporate functions. This role acts as a strategic recruitment partner to hiring managers and serves as the HR representative throughout the hiring and onboarding process, ensuring a consistent, compliant, and high-quality candidate and hiring manager experience. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will support workforce growth while aligning with safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements specific to a chemical distribution environment. Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in full-cycle recruitment, preferably supporting both hourly and salaried roles (exempt and non exempt)
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and recruitment best practises
  • Experience using an HRIS
  • Experience using an ATS and LinkedIn Recruiter
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and consultative skills
  • Excellent interviewing, assessment, and decision-making abilities
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple requisitions and shifting priorities
  • Professional communication skills with candidates at all organizational levels
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality

  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) required

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Working toward an HR designation (SHRM in the U.S.; CHRP or CHRL in Canada) considered an asset
  • Experience recruiting for operations, warehouse, supply chain, industrial, or regulated environments preferred
  • Familiarity with EHS, DOT, HAZMAT, or CDL hiring requirements
  • Multi-site or geographically dispersed recruiting experience
  • Experience in chemical distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or industrial environments preferred
  • Bilingualism considered an asset: English/French in Canada, English/Spanish in the United States
  • Experience using Workday HRIS

Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR and hiring managers to create, review, and update job descriptions, ensuring alignment with business needs, internal equity, regulatory requirements, and market competitiveness
  • Consult with hiring managers, HR and Compensation on talent needs, role definition, compensation ranges, and recruitment strategies
  • Manage requisition intake and approvals through the HRIS or ATS
  • Support rapid hiring for high-volume positions at distribution centers
  • Develop and post job advertisements across multiple platforms (ATS, company website, job boards, social media, industry-specific platforms, and referrals)
  • Proactively source candidates for hard-to-fill and specialized roles using LinkedIn, networking, and direct outreach
  • Promote the employer brand while ensuring accurate representation of roles and company culture
  • Develop proactive sourcing strategies using LinkedIn, industry networks, trade schools, military transition programs, and referrals
  • Represent the company at job fairs, industry events, and community outreach initiatives
  • Partner with HR and Marketing to promote the company’s safety culture, technical expertise, and career paths
  • Consult with hiring managers on: Job requirements and labor market realities, Interview best practices, Compensation alignment and offers
  • Coach leaders on equitable, inclusive, and legally compliant hiring practices
  • Review and screen resumes for qualifications, experience, and role fit
  • Conduct phone and virtual screenings to assess technical skills, behavioral competencies, safety awareness, and cultural alignment
  • Coordinate and participate in interviews, serving as the HR representative to ensure fair, structured, and compliant interview practices
  • Train and guide hiring managers on effective interviewing and selection techniques
  • Prepare and issue employment offers, including salary/hourly rates, bonuses, incentives, and employment conditions
  • Coordinate and manage background checks, reference checks, and pre-employment requirements, including: Criminal background checks, Education and employment verification, Drug & alcohol testing (where applicable), Any role-specific or regulatory checks relevant to chemical distribution, logistics, or safety-sensitive positions
  • Ensure all hiring activities comply with employment legislation and internal policies
  • Lead the end-to-end onboarding process, from offer acceptance through the employee’s first day
  • Coordinate onboarding logistics, including start dates, system access, paperwork, and orientation schedules
  • Partner with HR, Health & Safety, and hiring managers to ensure completion of safety training, compliance documentation, and role-specific onboarding
  • Serve as a point of contact for new hires during the onboarding phase to ensure a smooth transition into the organization
  • Maintain accurate recruitment documentation and records within the ATS/HRIS
  • Track recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, candidate sources, and diversity indicators
  • Ensure recruitment practices align with employment standards, human rights legislation, and health & safety regulations
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruitment processes, candidate experience, and hiring effectiveness
