Talent Acquisition Specialist – U.S.

Blykalla
5h$90,000 - $115,000Onsite

About The Position

Blykalla is developing the next generation of nuclear technology with our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) based on innovative fuel, materials, and reactor designs. As the only lead-cooled SMR developer entering the U.S. market, we are on a mission to decarbonize industries and enable safe, scalable, and sustainable energy solutions. Our technology uses uranium nitride fuel and lead coolant, creating novel challenges and opportunities for the fuel cycle and supporting systems. Blykalla is expanding to the United States to bring our lead-cooled small modular reactor technology to the American market. We're looking for our first U.S.-based Talent Acquisition Specialist to build the team that will shape the future of clean energy. Blykalla is opening its first U.S. office in New York City, and we need someone who can help us find and hire the people who will make our American ambitions a reality. As our first dedicated recruiter in the U.S., you won't just fill roles, you'll be part of building something from the ground up. You'll own the full recruitment process for our U.S. entity, sourcing and hiring around 15 specialized professionals this year across nuclear engineering, licensing, quality assurance, supply chain, and commercial functions. You'll work closely with our Chief People & Culture Officer and U.S.-based executive team to deliver a hiring plan that is critical to our business plan and regulatory commitments. This is a role for someone who is energized by the challenge of building a team from scratch in a competitive, specialized talent market ; and who wants to be part of a mission that genuinely matters.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience in the U.S. market, including proactive sourcing and headhunting of passive candidates. You know how to find people who aren't actively looking.
  • Experience hiring engineers or technical professionals in energy, nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other regulated/safety-critical industries. You don't need to be a nuclear expert, but you should be comfortable recruiting in technical, specialized environments.
  • Strong sourcing skills — LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, talent mapping, and creative outreach are second nature to you.
  • Experience working in a fast-growing or startup environment where processes aren't fully built yet and you need to figure things out as you go.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You'll be working closely with senior executives (some based in Sweden) and candidates across the U.S. — you need to build trust quickly in both directions.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset. You'll initially be our only U.S. recruiter, but you're part of a global P&C team. You communicate proactively, share what's working, and ask for help when you need it.
  • Comfort with cross-cultural, cross-timezone collaboration. Our headquarters is in Stockholm, and you'll have a weekly sync with the CPCO in CET. Async communication, self-direction, and good documentation habits are important.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience recruiting within the nuclear industry, including an established professional network in the sector.
  • Experience recruiting for roles connected to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and/or U.S. national laboratories is considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with PEO-based employment models.
  • Experience recruiting across multiple U.S. states, such as New York, Texas, and Idaho.
  • Experience with ATS implementation or administration (Teamtailor experience is a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Own U.S. recruitment end-to-end
  • Partner with hiring managers — including C-suite executives — to define role requirements, sourcing strategies, and hiring priorities across engineering, regulatory, commercial, and corporate functions.
  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from intake through offer, for roles spanning nuclear engineers, NQA-1 quality specialists, DOE licensing professionals, supply chain managers, and more.
  • Proactively source and headhunt passive candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter, industry networks, professional associations (ANS, ASME), national laboratory alumni pipelines, and university partnerships.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines for hard-to-fill roles, particularly in nuclear quality assurance, reactor engineering, and DOE regulatory affairs.
  • Ensure an outstanding candidate experience that reflects who we are — innovative, mission-driven, and genuinely respectful of people's time.
  • Build our U.S. employer brand
  • You'll be one of the first voices representing Blykalla to the American nuclear talent market. Help us establish our presence as a serious, exciting employer in a space dominated by legacy players and well-funded startups.
  • With CPCO. develop and execute employer branding initiatives: careers page content, LinkedIn presence, conference participation, and university outreach.
  • Represent Blykalla at industry events, career fairs, and professional association meetings.
  • Shape how we recruit as we scale
  • Manage our ATS and recruitment tooling for U.S. operations.
  • Evolve recruitment processes, interview frameworks, and scorecard systems in collaboration with the People & Culture team.
  • Track and report on recruitment metrics (time-to-fill, pipeline health, offer acceptance rates) to ensure we stay on plan.
  • Coordinate with our PEO partner on employment documentation and onboarding logistics.
