About The Position

At Karis Disability Services, the Talent Acquisition Manager plays a vital role in identifying and attracting direct support professionals who align with the organization's values, vision, and mission. This is a full-time, temporary position for 9 months, requiring 35 hours per week, located in Mississauga, Ontario, with an on-site work environment. The Talent Acquisition Manager provides guidance, education, and recommendations for the full cycle of recruitment, working in coordination with the Human Resource Department and District Leadership Team. The role ensures adequate and qualified staff and volunteers are recruited by planning, advertising, coordinating, and participating in selection activities to implement consistent and accountable recruitment strategies. A key aspect of the role is embracing the Christian Faith Foundation of the organization, ensuring the Christian ethos and the Values, Vision, and Mission permeate job responsibilities and personal commitment to the Statement of Faith.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of previous experience in a related position
  • Experience recruiting within a unionized environment, with knowledge of collective agreement requirements and seniority-based hiring practices.
  • College Diploma in Human Resources
  • Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP, CHRL) required
  • Networking and Relationship Building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Maintain knowledge of provincial Occupational Health & Safety legislation, the Act respecting Employment Standards, provincial regulatory requirements and the Human Rights Code.
  • G-Driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver presentations promoting volunteer and employment opportunities to various stakeholders, including the Christian community, community centers, employment resource centers, cultural groups, immigrant centers, First Nation Community networks, and Developmental Services networks/agencies to source candidates.
  • Develop strong relationships and networking opportunities with educational institutions (colleges, universities, high schools) to establish a talent pipeline and create/maintain a student placement program.
  • Develop recruitment strategies and networks to promote a diverse workforce through advertising, marketing, and hiring practices.
  • Plan and execute in-person and virtual job fairs internally and attend external job fairs to promote recruitment and Karis Disability Services.
  • Actively source candidates through networking and electronic platforms.
  • Respond to recruitment inquiries from internal and external parties.
  • Collaborate with the organizational Recruitment team to recommend improvements, develop new processes, and identify efficiencies, ensuring organizational consistency.
  • Receive job vacancies and create internal and external job postings.
  • Provide prompt responses to applicants, receive and review resumes, and select candidates for screening.
  • Manage the entire recruitment process, including scheduling interviews, conducting background checks, and extending offers.
  • Manage the awarding of contracts in accordance with seniority and union requirements where collective agreements exist, in consultation with the Area Manager.
  • Coordinate on-site assessments/2nd interviews with hiring managers, equipping them to present Expectations of Employees based on Values, Vision, Mission, and/or Statement of Faith.
  • Receive and evaluate required Vulnerable Sector Checks, Standard Police Checks, driver records, and immunization dates.
  • Track candidate information at each recruitment stage in the appropriate database and monitor vacant contracts and relief needs by community.
  • Produce reports on recruitment to District leadership, such as year-in-review (number of hires, etc.).
  • Track successful hire rates from various sources to inform future practices.
  • Receive, review, track, and authorize staff referrals, ensuring referral criteria and requirements are met.
