About The Position

Skills Inc., a major aerospace supplier in Washington State, is seeking a Takedown/Packaging Finish Supervisor to manage and coordinate production activities in the Finish facility. This role involves maintaining security, safety, and the general operation of the facility, while supervising and influencing personnel to meet production requirements and organizational goals. The position also requires training responsibilities, with all hours worked, including off-shift training, being paid and counting towards overtime. The company is a non-profit with a social mission to train, employ, and serve persons with disabilities and the community.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the Finish industry.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory experience or shown motivation to learn on the job and willing to seek outside training for supervision skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy in Windows environment, including MS Office experience.
  • Strong leadership skills; Able to make independent decisions based on input.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to plan and request resources based on a production forecast.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team-oriented, and ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
  • Excellent at reading and interpreting Aerospace blueprint documents.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.
  • Accepting criticism and the ability to deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Ability to identify, organize, estimate, and recognize differences or similarities.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English through verbal communication, American Sign Language, or adaptive technology.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  • Three (3) years of working experience in Aerospace Finish or Manufacturing industries.
  • Must be a US Person as defined by ITAR (US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or admitted as a refugee or asylee).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct the Finish operation to ensure effective return on assets and meet customer production requirements.
  • Ensure production output complies with customer and process specifications.
  • Initiate and lead activities to minimize finishing costs through efficient use of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
  • Follow operational strategies and action plans to support Skills Inc.'s strategic initiatives.
  • Optimize manpower utilization through staffing plans, shift allocation, and cross-training.
  • Continuously improve safety culture and safety record by addressing physical safety issues and employee attitudes towards safety and PPE usage.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards for housekeeping to ensure safe and productive work areas.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training Finish employees.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, conduct performance reviews, deliver corrective action, and delegate work assignments.
  • Supervise employee disagreements/conflicts and facilitate resolution or involve Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Promote clear and consistent communication with counterparts on other shifts to ensure product flow.
  • Communicate significant employee-related issues to Human Resources and appropriate Director(s).
  • Assist in interpreting specifications, blueprints, and customer requirements.
  • Directly supervise department employees in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving problems.
