About The Position

The Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) is seeking an experienced Tableau Developer (Software Developer 3) to support the development of enterprise business intelligence and analytics solutions. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Tableau dashboards, reports, and workflow-driven analytics that enhance operational visibility, performance monitoring, and executive decision-making. The selected consultant will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather reporting requirements, integrate data from multiple enterprise systems, develop KPIs and scorecards, optimize dashboard performance, and provide ongoing support for business intelligence initiatives. This position is ideal for a Tableau professional with extensive experience in enterprise reporting, SQL, data visualization, and business intelligence within large organizations.

Requirements

At least 8 years of experience in enterprise Tableau dashboard development and maintenance
Tableau Desktop
Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud
Dashboard design and data visualization
Tableau calculations and data modeling
Dashboard performance optimization
SQL development and relational databases
Data extraction, transformation, and analysis
Business requirements gathering and documentation
Translating business needs into reporting and analytics solutions
Data integration from enterprise applications and data warehouses
KPI development and executive dashboards
Business Intelligence (BI) reporting standards
Data visualization best practices
Data validation and quality assurance
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
Experience in Texas State Government or other regulated environments
Experience with Government reporting and compliance projects
Workflow analysis and business process improvement
Experience with operational reporting and executive dashboards

Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
Perform data validation and ensure data quality across reporting solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve reporting, visualization, and data integration issues.
Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge transfer materials.
Support enhancements, maintenance activities, and ongoing business intelligence initiatives.
Collaborate effectively with technical teams, business users, and agency leadership.
