The Maintenance Technician at W Barcelona is responsible for responding to and addressing guest repair requests, communicating with guests to resolve maintenance issues, and performing preventive maintenance on various equipment including tools, kitchen, and mechanical room equipment. This involves cleaning, lubrication, and visual inspection. The role requires the ability to carry equipment, identify and operate shut-off valves for utilities and equipment, and maintain maintenance inventory. The technician must communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts. Basic knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge in areas such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building maintenance is essential. Specific tasks include surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and thorough cleanup. The technician will test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on various equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclogging drains), electrical components, and guestroom items. Programming TVs and performing general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties are also part of the role. Adherence to the Lockout/Tagout system is required before maintenance work. The position also involves repairs on interior and exterior landscaping and sprinklers, and basic computer skills for inputting air handler schedules and making temperature changes. The technician must follow all company and safety procedures, report hazards, complete safety training, and properly store flammable materials. Professional appearance, confidentiality, and asset protection are expected. Guest interaction includes welcoming, anticipating needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and showing appreciation. The role requires adherence to quality standards, fostering positive working relationships, supporting team goals, and clear communication. Physical demands include lifting/moving objects up to 50 pounds (or heavier with assistance), moving up/down stairs, ramps, and ladders, and reaching overhead, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The technician will also use computers for work-related information.
