About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Operations & Maintenance Electronics or SONAR Technician to work aboard government operated Surveillance Towed Array Sensory System (SURTASS) asset operating at sea. Technicians will be on a 6 month on and 6 month off rotating mission. As a member of the SURTASS Operation Center (SOC) and the SURTASS team, you will be responsible for the following: Perform operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting on all SURTASS mission equipment in accordance with Periodic Maintenance Schedule (PMS) and other reference documents in support of fleet requirements. Opportunity to work on SHF SATCOM Communications, Processing, Passive and Active Arrays and other supporting systems. Complete basic qualified in SURTASS Operation Center and Array Operation positions and participate in the deployment and retrieval of Tow Arrayed evolutions and all other SURTASS operations. Assist the SURTASS Technical Advisor (STA) and other program managers in compiling data, procedures, including maintaining required records and logs, monitoring, and sending record Naval Message Traffic. Maintain an accurate logistics inventory as provided by the Government, and provide periodic updates May be assigned COMSEC, logistics, 3M or safety collateral duties. Required to participate in Amentum and Government Compliance Training programs. Share common spaces over lengthy deployment periods and work closely with others in a small working area and in a shipboard environment. This position requires close cooperation and working relationships with active-duty military, defense contractors, and government personnel.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Technology, or graduate of US Navy Electronics “C” school or equivalent civilian Electronics Technical school dealing directly with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of: VME computers, digital computers, microprocessors or peripheral/interface equipment, networks, communications system, navigation system and/or sonar system.
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II and Operating System certification upon start.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or equivalent.
  • Proficient with network computers and have a familiarity with operational, schematics, and maintenance publications.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform assigned taskings.
  • Obtain valid U.S. passport in an expeditious manner.
  • Capable of passing a Mariner's Physical per COMSCINST 6000.l.c and maintain their medical fitness for this position upon start.
  • Secret Clearance required and ability to complete government background investigation and meet eligibility requirements to obtain Top Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years' experience of practical hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of, at a minimum, one of the following: Virtual Machine Environment (VME) computers, networks, digital computers, microprocessors, communications systems, navigation systems, and/or sonar systems.
  • Surveillance Towed Array Sensory System (SURTASS) mission system background.
  • Experience with EKMS/COMSEC.
  • Super High Frequency (SHF) communications IE., WSC-6, WSC-3, CBSP, Intellian systems.
