About The Position

OIC is seeking a motivated, hands-on Systems Admin I to join our team. This is a key transitional role designed for an experienced IT professional who has strong foundational desktop support skills and is eager to expand their knowledge into enterprise system administration, networking, and infrastructure management. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer/CISO, you will be an active, hands-on member of our operational support team. You will partner with our Specialist and Analyst to address service desk incidents, service requests, device deployment, and IT support for our clinical, educational, workforce development, and administrative staff. Additionally, you will help keep core infrastructure (Servers, Active Directory, backups, tools, patching, and basic infrastructure) running smoothly with guidance from the CTO / CISO.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of direct, hands-on experience troubleshooting, provisioning, and closing user tickets for Windows 10/11 endpoints, printers, mobile devices, office peripherals, and software applications.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration, including basic management and maintenance of virtual machines (VMs) in a Hyper-V environment.
  • Practical experience managing user accounts, permissions, and security groups in Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID, including Group Policy (GPO) updates.
  • Hands-on experience executing, monitoring, and verifying system backups and data recovery procedures.
  • Solid understanding of core networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and basic VLAN logic.
  • Must be able to monitor and respond to system alerts or incidents.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a healthcare, clinical, or FQHC environment is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, data privacy standards, and regulatory compliance including HIPAA, NIST, FERPA, Financial records protection, or Personally Identifiable Information (PII) guidelines.
  • Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field, plus 1–2 years of hands-on IT support experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED combined with 3–4 years of progressive experience in IT user support, Active Directory, and systems troubleshooting.
  • An equivalent combination of education, relevant technical certifications, and hands-on experience will be considered.
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or A+
  • Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals (e.g., MS-900, AZ-900) or Endpoint Administrator Associate
  • Any foundational certs in system administration or desktop management

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine maintenance, formal change requests, provisioning, and health monitoring of core backend systems, including Windows Server, virtual machines (VMs) in a Hyper-V environment, and storage arrays.
  • Perform identity and directory management tasks, including user account lifecycle management, Active Directory / Azure AD (Entra ID) maintenance, and group policy (GPO) updates.
  • Support business continuity by executing, monitoring, and verifying system backups and routine data recovery procedures.
  • Help monitor network health, DHCP/DNS services, and server patch baselines, executing routine maintenance windows.
  • Act as an escalation point, solving complex hardware, operating system, and local network connectivity issues.
  • Actively working within the help desk ticket queue alongside the team, ensuring day-to-day user requests (hardware provisioning, application deployments, printer routing, peripheral setup) are closed promptly.
  • Assist in building and refining workstation deployment blueprints, zero-touch provisioning profiles, and automated software packaging.
  • Ensure all clinical and administrative workstations meet organizational endpoint security standards, antivirus definitions, and patch compliance.
