About The Position

The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in the areas of aeropropulsion and space propulsion and power test facilities. TFOME management is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees. We specialize in providing unique products and services to NASA Glenn. We are currently seeking a Systems Project Engineer candidate to join our Data & Systems team that will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the organization’s information systems, as part of the TFOME contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or 10 years or more of systems engineering experience that includes software, hardware, or network engineering backgrounds.
  • Experience in systems engineering, infrastructure design, or IT project management.
  • Proven experience in planning, designing, and integrating complex hardware and software systems.
  • Understanding of system architecture, configuration management, and production deployment processes.
  • Ability to capture and translate customer requirements into actionable technical specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong people skills, to include communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all activities related to the organization’s information systems.
  • Ensuring the effective planning, design, development, testing, and integration of systems infrastructure, including hardware and software components.
  • Providing leadership in requirements management, documentation, system configuration, project execution, and production transitions.
  • Delivering technical support and troubleshooting to maintain operational reliability.
  • Collaborating and engaging in engineering activities related to the organization’s information systems.
  • Ensuring alignment of system design and implementation with organizational goals and standards.
  • Planning, designing, developing, evaluating, testing, and integrating systems infrastructure, including hardware and software.
  • Overseeing system implementation and ensuring seamless integration of new technologies.
  • Capturing, analyzing, and translating customer requirements into technical specifications.
  • Defining system and product requirements, including mechanical, electrical, and software performance and reliability standards.
  • Creating and maintaining programmatic and technical documentation to support efficient planning and execution.
  • Managing and documenting system configurations and overseeing transitions into production environments.
  • Leading and coordinating project planning activities, including scope definition, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
  • Managing project timelines, deliverables, and milestones, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and organizational objectives.
  • Facilitating cross-functional communication among engineering, operations, and stakeholder teams to ensure alignment and project transparency.
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying issues, and implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Preparing and delivering project status reports, presentations, and supporting documentation for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Supporting budgeting, cost tracking, and procurement activities related to project execution.
