About The Position

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Systems Programmer III DB2 for a remote opportunity working EST hours. Candidate will support the administration, performance, availability, and reliability of enterprise IBM DB2 for z/OS environments. The role will work closely with database, application, and infrastructure teams to maintain mission-critical systems, resolve production issues, and implement upgrades and system improvements.

Requirements

4+ years of IT experience, including varied programming or systems-related experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Hands-on experience with IBM mainframe technologies, including DB2 and z/OS.
Experience with SYSVIEW, Broadcom products, or other IBM/mainframe-related technologies.
Strong analytical, logical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of database management, data storage concepts, and advanced programming techniques.
Understanding of production system maintenance and the potential impact of software or infrastructure changes.
Experience with systems software quality assurance, testing, implementation, and change-management practices.
Ability to evaluate technical specifications for completeness and compatibility and learn new programming languages, utilities, and tools.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting enterprise DB2 for z/OS environments, including subsystem administration, performance tuning, upgrades and migrations, disaster recovery, production troubleshooting, and data movement between environments.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, maintain, and administer IBM DB2 for z/OS subsystems in an enterprise mainframe environment.
Monitor and tune DB2 performance to improve system availability, stability, and resource utilization.
Plan and execute DB2 maintenance, upgrades, migrations, and related systems changes.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production incidents while supporting critical business applications.
Support disaster recovery activities and facilitate data movement across development, testing, and production environments.
Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule and collaborate with database administrators and technical teams on system improvements.
