About The Position

TerraTherm is hiring a temporary Systems Operator for hands-on field work operating, monitoring, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and documenting vapor and liquid treatment systems on thermal remediation projects. The role involves routine system rounds, process data collection, responding to alarms, preventive and corrective maintenance, sampling, equipment inspections, shift turnover, and coordination with project management and engineering. Operators may also support construction, system modifications, startups, shutdowns, maintenance outages, and demobilization. The Operator level and responsibilities depend on the candidate’s verified experience, education, licenses, technical skills, and familiarity with industrial or environmental process equipment. This is a travel-based position with extended project assignments throughout the United States. Rotational schedules, overtime, weekends, holidays, night work, changing shifts, on-call duties, and after-hours alarm response may be required. The position is temporary, and candidates must be located in the Providence, Rhode Island area. Work takes place at active industrial, construction, and environmental-remediation sites and may involve process equipment, moving machinery, pressurized piping, electrical systems, hazardous substances, noise, hot equipment, uneven terrain, and changing weather. Moderate physical effort is required during 8- to 12-hour shifts, including standing and walking for extended periods, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting or carrying items up to 50 pounds. Required personal protective equipment must be worn, and respiratory protection may be required under site-specific conditions. The role requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work or military experience; a valid driver’s license; relevant experience with mechanical systems, electrical maintenance, controls, industrial equipment, process operations, treatment systems, or related fieldwork; and the ability to travel extensively. TerraTherm provides required training and supports ongoing technical development. Compensation is $28–$34 per hour, depending on experience. Employment is conditional on passing a pre-employment criminal background check and drug test and maintaining a clean driving record in accordance with DOT requirements.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision, manage multiple priorities, remain calm during alarms or equipment problems, and recognize when to escalate.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, work rotational assignments, and participate in on-call or after-hours alarm coverage.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work during 8- to 12-hour shifts, including lifting or carrying items up to 50 pounds and working while wearing required protective gear.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions, and around industrial, construction, and environmental-remediation hazards.
