About The Position

Designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications that meet the needs of the City’s Water Reclamation Division. Responsibilities include writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code in various programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript), programming and troubleshooting Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems used to monitor and control wastewater treatment processes, pumping stations, and related infrastructure. Must adhere to City and department policies and procedures. Work is performed under the general supervision of departmental managers and is subject to periodic review and evaluation. The work schedule varies according to division needs and includes some evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • One year of experience related to object-oriented, structured text, ladder logic and/or Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (for Administrator I)
  • Two years of experience related to object-oriented, structured text, ladder logic and/or Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (for Administrator II)
  • Five years of experience related to object-oriented, structured text, ladder logic and/or Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (for Administrator III)
  • Equivalent combination of specifically related education, training and experience
  • Two (2) years of direct experience in lieu of an associate degree
  • Four (4) years of direct experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • Six (6) years of direct experience in lieu of a master's degree
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience in lieu of a doctoral degree
