About The Position

Aether Aerospace, a Defense Technology platform formed by JHNA, CTSi, and EXPANSIA, is seeking a senior Systems Network and Command and Control (C2) Architect Engineer. This role supports the development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions, providing System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) at Kirtland AFB, NM. The RCO is a streamlined organization focused on rapidly delivering operationally dominant space capabilities to meet U.S. Space Command requirements. The ideal candidate will be a leader and problem solver with expertise in developing, designing, building, and integrating space hardware and software within a high-profile, fast-paced, and classified environment. This is a full-time, permanent position located in Albuquerque, NM, with up to 30% travel within the continental United States.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with SAP Eligibility, and willingness to sit for a CI Poly.
  • Relevant MA/MS/ME Degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of DoD/IC, or relevant industry work experience.
  • No less than two (2) years of total SAP and/or SCI environment experience, with 1 year total within the last 5 years.
  • Experience with DoD acquisition, including documentation generation, presentation preparation, and supporting programmatic-focused discussions.
  • Proven experience and/or qualifications in requirements development for the DoD or IC.
  • Knowledge of space system engineering, development, and manufacturing.
  • Experience in network design, optimization, and security in classified and unclassified environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.), routing and switching, network security, virtualization, and cloud computing.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues effectively.
  • Experience in DoD program management, including program development and transition.
  • Experience monitoring network performance, identifying and resolving issues, and performing regular maintenance tasks like software updates and security patches.
  • Experience creating network blueprints, selecting appropriate hardware and software, and overseeing the setup of new networks or network expansions.
  • Understanding of operational environment and corresponding mission user needs.
  • Experience with Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS).

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience with SAP and/or SCI.
  • Experience with network architecture for space vehicles and/or space ground systems.
  • System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to Government program office.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and transition to operations.
  • Experience with integrated air, space, and cyberspace capabilities.
  • Experience with ACAT I/II level acquisition programs.
  • Fluency with IC organizations.
  • Experience working in multiple classification environments and implementing cross-domain solutions.
  • Experience with online collaboration tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, and JIRA.
  • Experience with cloud computing tools, such as VMware, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the government Program Manager with network design and implementation throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Lead or support technical programs, projects, or tasks requiring engineering oversight.
  • Ensure completion of tasks within estimated time frames and budget constraints.
  • Provide input to the government customer concerning risks to performance, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure the quality of program, project, or task deliverables meet or exceed standards and assess them to ensure they meet the warfighting purpose.
  • Plan and perform engineering research, design development, and other engineering assignments in conformance with design, engineering, and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with multiple partners/agencies to ensure system engineering communities support delivery milestones.
  • Propose network adoption plans, application design, and management and monitoring, including potential hosting in a cloud environment.
  • Track and advise on design trades and associated cost, schedule, and technical impacts to requirements.
  • Support design, interpretation, and analysis of technical solutions to complex discipline-specific testing.
  • Translate complex ideas and data into simple, actionable recommendations or easily differentiated courses of action.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy—oral and written.
