About The Position

The Systems Maintenance Assistant inspects campus systems, including HVAC equipment, pumps, condensers, compressors, and electrical and domestic water services. The role starts up, regulates, and shuts down equipment and monitors meters, gauges, and computerized controls to ensure equipment operates safely, economically, and within limits. The assistant watches and listens to machinery, routinely checks safety devices, records data in logs, and identifies potential problems. The position also involves learning new job skills through on-the-job training and professional training classes.

The work takes place indoors and outdoors and may involve confined spaces and uncomfortable temperature variations. Work may be strenuous and requires access to various campus locations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or HSE.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors and tolerate confined spaces and uncomfortable temperature variations.
• Physical capability to access various campus locations by walking and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Computer proficiency.
