About The Position

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Integration Engineer position at Wright Patterson AFB, OH. This is part of the ISR/SOF Directorate (AFLCMC/WI), which is responsible for equipping our warfighters to win the fight. The Directorate executes a $22 billion acquisition portfolio developing, producing, testing, modifying, fielding, and supporting Air Force ISR and SOF platforms, and related sub-systems.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a related field and at least 20 years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, 12 years of which must be in the DoD.
  • OR bachelor’s degree in a related field and 25 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 15 years of which must be in the DoD.
  • OR, 30 years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category performance requirements, 20 years of which must be in the DoD.
  • Top Secret Clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the development of systems utilizing networking principles and implementation, including but not limited to Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
  • Experience with development on Windows, Sun, Linux or Unix platforms, including but not limited to C/C++ and Java.
  • Knowledgeable in and assist with providing guidance for Information Assurance (IA) accreditation and implementation of IA controls for individual projects up to and including ACAT 1 Platform Information Technology (PIT) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the principles, criteria, and procedures of Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5000.1 and DoDD 5000.2R as well as the policies and processes of Headquarters (HQ) AFMC and AFLCMC Engineering Directorate to all SOF acquisition engineering tasks.
  • Possess and demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
  • Provide advisory assistance in developing system concepts, and in performing technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs.
  • Assist with providing technical support in planning, analyzing, and evaluating efforts used to define total weapons systems/subsystem requirements, translate requirements into design criteria, evaluate alternative design approaches, develop system specifications, and perform technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs to include airworthiness (and tailored airworthiness criteria).
  • Provide support in developing system performance requirements, objectives and integration, and the estimation of time and resources for system design, development, and support.
  • Apply expertise in the field of engineering and extensive knowledge of the assigned functional area to assist in resolving unique or novel problems related to design and development engineering including having knowledge of: the principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and other engineering disciplines used in support of sustainment, modification, and maintenance programs.
  • Assist in performing technical planning, system integration, risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for the SOF system (includes full weapons system trainers, operational flight trainers, avionics desktop trainer, courseware, and maintenance training devices).
  • Assist with and perform providing engineering leadership and technical direction in the development of systems using large-scale distributed and virtualized environment.
