Apply materials and fluids engineering principles and practices to improve and support processes including Engineering Standard Work (ESW), Integrated Design Failure modes and effects analysis (iDFMEA), FIRG and tools such as 7-step problem solving, design review checklist and other specialized tools required to enable high quality decision making. Utilize materials and fluids engineering methods and tools to deliver independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems across smaller business impact projects and complex systems or services with greater elements of ambiguity, while still developing technology and product knowledge for lead engineers. Utilize System Requirements Engineering to identify and analyze interfaces and interactions across the electrical system boundaries by specifying the requirements and limits to ensure the product meets the aforementioned requirements. Document information based on materials and fluids engineering knowledge gained as part of technical function activities and develop technical methods or processes. Develop system level requirements by translating the voice of the customer to design, develop and calibrate powertrain features. Control interactions across system element boundaries ensuring they remain within specified limits, and integrate system elements by creating an integration plan including identification of method and timing for each activity to make it easier to diagnose and correct utilizing knowledge of Product Interface Management and Integration. Lead development and improvement of engineering work processes and electrical systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site. Use appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed. Identify system capability and risks through analysis or experimental testing of the electrical system in the context of its environment. Use simulation tools including GT Power and MatLAB/Simulink to perform in-cylinder analysis and design engineering tests. Serve as the central point for the coordination and decision making between product engineers, customer teams, purchasing, suppliers and manufacturing. Utilize Product Failure Mode Avoidance to mitigate potential product failure modes by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and prioritize potential failure modes and potential failure causes for electrical system to effectively and efficiently improve the reliability of products. Perform data prost-processing and analysis to evaluate and improve heavy duty vehicle driveability metrics and powertrain features performance. Utilize systems design process including requirements allocation, development of subsystem or component verification and validation plans, and architecture definition through system modeling and testing. Evaluate Product Integration to manage the creation or mapping of tests to requirements and needs for several projects.
