Systems Engineering Methods Engineer (Onsite)

RTX•East Hartford, CT
•$132,400 - $251,600•Onsite

About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking engineer to advance propulsion modeling capabilities and drive enterprise adoption of next-generation engineering methods. The role enhances NPSS toolchains, optimizes PMDO workflows, and strengthens automation and CI/CD systems. It provides technical leadership in MBSE, MDAO, and digital engineering methodologies, guiding system modeling, integration, optimization, and design automation practices in partnership with discipline and strategy stakeholders. The engineer coordinates performance and operability methods, supports development of NPSS Kernel/EMI and Core Library features, provides modeling support across programs, and owns key processes such as the Automated Severity Grid and PSA Jenkins pipelines. The role collaborates across functions to harmonize digital processes, improve modeling reliability, streamline data environments, and deploy analytical capabilities. It also supports an AI Coding Assistant initiative intended to accelerate NPSS model implementation and modernize propulsion-analysis workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with software development in a structured environment.
  • Experience in systems engineering and/or enterprise tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
  • An active and existing security clearance is required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional engineering projects in an Agile framework.
  • Experience with NPSS, Python, Java, JavaScript/HTML, REST APIs, Git/GitHub, Jenkins/Groovy, AWS, Linux/Unix shell scripting, Perl, and Matlab/Simulink.
  • Proficiency applying Agile and the Leadership Operating Model to drive outcomes in evolving and ambiguous environments.
  • Working technical knowledge of multiple P&W engineering disciplines (working knowledge: have led or executed EKS on project).
  • Knowledge of P&W engineering workflows across the lifecycle, including activities, work products, and handoffs within RLPM.
  • Experience with process modeling and analysis, systems integration, digital transformation, and/or MBSE at scale.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with project planning and oversight of projects with enterprise-wide impact.
  • Experience with RTX-approved AI LLM and ML platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engine performance and operations methods tasks, aligning engineering methods and process governance and ensuring timely delivery of work products.
  • Provide PMDO process support, including method development, documentation updates, workflow optimization, and integration with broader engineering systems.
  • Provide NPSS system and modeling support to programs and customers, including model updates, debugging, performance assessments, and integration of advanced features.
  • Perform NPSS tools and Core Library development to extend analytical capabilities and support engineering-wide tool standardization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, methods, and digital teams to harmonize processes, deploy capabilities, and support enterprise modeling initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across modeling, automation, and data-processing environments, driving continuous improvement and reliability.
  • Support development of an AI Coding Assistant acting as an LLM-based driver for NPSS model implementation.
