Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Maritime Systems & Integration (MS&I) E&S organization and serve as the Charlottesville E&S Site Lead. This position reports to the Naval Systems Engineering Director and is in Charlottesville, VA. The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the geographically distributed, highly dynamic, multi-discipline engineering team. The engineering team is responsible for hardware & software development, production support and shipboard integration & test for Navy and USCG surface and subsurface fleet.

Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
U.S. Citizen with an active Government Secret Clearance
3 years of professional experience in the defense or aerospace industries
2 years demonstrated success managing technical teams
2 years of experience working in a technical role
Proven experience as a team player and collaborator
Very strong engineering background with demonstrated experience managing through requirements development, design and production
Solid understanding of engineering process with execution experience

Nice To Haves

Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields.
Program management experience
Success as a leader of large functional organization
Experience managing large control accounts with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and technical performance
Experience with product line management and product line engineering
Demonstrated success in creating and executing affordability initiatives

Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of the program(s) technical roadmap strategy
Staff appropriately and enable resource sharing across multiple business areas
Lead strategic actions to improve the business of engineering
Drive engineering strategy and practices pertinent to the MS&I E&S organization, including but not limited to investments and talent strategy
Drive key talent development and workforce planning efforts
Elevate engineering rigor
Drive predictable financial and program results
Prioritize engineering investments aligned with strategic imperatives
Demonstrate thought leadership on digital transformation
Positions may require travel up to 25% of the time to support distributed team
