Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 3 – Senior SVDI (Space Vehicle Design & Integration) Lead to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. Please be aware that this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance at the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience OR PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date OR Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate’s maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.
  • Proven track record managing teams of 10+ engineers and/or program professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IR&D and/or large-scale overhead/direct budgets.
  • Strong background in Space Vehicle (SV) integration and Systems Engineering (SE) for space hardware.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) clearance along with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Million-Dollar Budgets: Execute and oversee a multimillion-dollar budget targeting advanced satellite capabilities.
  • Drive IR&D Strategy: Lead Internal Research and Development (IR&D) focused on unique payloads and payload accommodation.
  • Ensure Compliance: Guarantee strict adherence to Northrop Grumman business practices, financial controls, and compliance standards for complex funding structures.
  • Secure Capture: Align technical investments directly with strategic capture strategies to win a multimillion-dollar pipeline.
  • Lead Enhancement Team: Provide direct leadership to a multidisciplinary engineering and program team of 10+ personnel.
  • Manage Cross-Functional Scope: Oversee program direct scope across multiple technical and operational areas.
  • Customer Interface: Serve as the primary point of contact for weekly technical and programmatic customer reviews.
  • Space Vehicle Integration: Apply deep competency in Space Vehicle (SV) integration to ensure payload-to-bus compatibility.
  • Systems Engineering Leadership: Guide complex Systems Engineering (SE) processes, requirements verification, and risk management baselines.
