About The Position

This internship is based in Richardson, TX and offers an opportunity to learn from industry experts while gaining hands-on experience in aerospace and defense. You’ll support the development and delivery of advanced communication solutions that address critical customer and mission needs. No prior industry experience is required—we’ll provide the training, tools, and mentorship you need to succeed. You will gain technical experience, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to very influential individuals within Mission Systems that will help advance your career. You will gain valuable experience in roles such as Model Based System Engineering (MBSE). You will gain invaluable experience collaborating with our systems engineering experts, security and crypto certification specialists, customer base, and engineering teams, learning exactly what it takes to deliver a security hardened product while employing next-generation systems engineering tools and processes. Requirements

Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
Experience in systems engineering to include capturing customer requirements, operations concept development, or deriving and tracing system and sub-system requirements.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Draw Cameo, Enterprise Architect, or similar resources using SysML.
Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
Familiarity with RTX systems, processes, and tools.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions.
Experience with the Atlassian Suite such as Jira or Confluence.
Experience working in an Agile environment and being part of highly integrated Agile teams working closely with multiple engineering development teams (SW, HW, Cyber, or Sys).
Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance after the start date.

Responsibilities

Perform in a cross-functional agile team.
Work in close coordination with a mentor using Collins Aerospace engineering processes.
Creation, decomposition, and tracing requirements for communications systems on military platforms, both air and ground applications.
Work with a model-based systems engineering application to create logical and physical design diagrams.
Perform integration and testing for these communications solutions.
Support future bids and proposals providing new business opportunities.
