About The Position

The Bike Shop department is seeking an Systems Engineering Intern to work in an engineering environment to co-develop engineering hardware in accordance with customer and internal requirements, as well as industry standards. Candidates will collaborate with multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects to bring design concepts to fruition, providing rapid engineering, fabrication, and prototyping solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle. Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Sophomore year by the start of summer 2026
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Academic or internship experience that included hands-on testing of electronic or mechanical equipment
  • Exposure to troubleshooting technical issues with electronical or mechanical in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby

Nice To Haves

  • Active and in-scope US security clearance of Secret or higher.
  • Experience with or exposure to various military platforms for weapons conveyance, such as ships, ground combat systems, fixed and rotary wing aircraft
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in a direct customer facing role
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering staff with build, integration, verification, and test activities across hardware, electronics, and mechanical systems.
  • Collaboration with cross‑functional engineering teams to support prototype development and design iteration cycles.
  • Perform engineering design and documentation tasks such as CAD, drawing updates, hands-on lab work, configuration tracking, and work order processing.
  • Support multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Comfort working in a hands‑on engineering environment around machinery, test fixtures, and instrumentation.
