Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Turbomachinery instrumentation, Analog, Digital Electronics, Mixed Signal, Circuit Design or Analysis, Electrical Components, Digital Signal Processing or PCB design.
  • Experience using common electronic test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers (VNAs) digital multimeters (DMMs) and signal generators for circuit characterization, debugging and validation.
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Working on tasks related to data acquisition/data recording on military and commercial engines including related instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and other stakeholders regarding data before, during, and after testing.
  • Communicate results and insights to technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and concise manner.
  • Set up of test facilities to support engine testing.
  • Set up of instrumentation measurement systems to support engine testing.
  • Consult and coordinate with engineering and customer groups to establish requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and calibration of devices in the test facility or lab, and operation of data acquisition systems during validation testing.
  • Effectively communicate with instrumentation technicians, test engineering and operations groups to ensure requirements are fully understood and achievable.
