Systems Engineering Analog IC Validation

Broadcom•Colorado Springs, CO
•$91,100 - $146,000

About The Position

The Analog IC Validation team defines, develops, and uses test procedures to ensure Broadcom products meet applicable industry standards and perform as expected in their intended applications. Analog IC Validation engineers collaborate with analog designers and hardware and software engineering teams to validate and debug new products in a laboratory environment. The role involves working with state-of-the-art test equipment and leading-edge storage silicon, and developing tests for the evolving high-speed serial industry. The Analog Systems Engineer is involved with products from the beginning, working with analog and digital designers to define hardware test features needed to test products against relevant specifications. During the design phase, the engineer helps evaluate and select test equipment. Early pre-silicon work may include developing tests and automation code using test chips. Product validation combines manual and automated tests and requires setup changes, careful attention to detail, and strong debugging skills when validating signals at the data rates used by the products. After validation, the engineer supports customer bring-up and helps debug issues customers encounter.

Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of related work experience.
  • Solid understanding of transmission-line theory and high-speed I/O operation.
  • Some experience with sources of jitter and EMI.
  • Experience using VNAs, TDRs, spectrum analyzers, and real-time oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to write and debug Python programs, with some experience in C and MATLAB.
  • Experience developing and debugging automated test scripts, preferably in Python.
  • Experience running analog simulation tools such as SPICE or ADS with IBIS-AMI models.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture and system-level operation and execution.
  • Practical system-level debugging experience and good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Good verbal, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Good debugging skills and attention to detail when validating signals at product data rates.
