About The Position

BAI is seeking a Senior Data Analysis Engineer to support work at Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), Naval Air Station Point Mugu, California. The role processes, reduces, analyzes, and evaluates ground laboratory and open-air flight-test data. It serves as a functional and engineering subject-matter expert in countermeasures, electronic warfare, software architecture, and sensors. Analysis supports formal verification of system performance requirements and Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), with findings presented in decision-quality reports and executive briefings for program managers, test directors, and acquisition authorities. The engineer ingests and time-synchronizes data from ground laboratories, hardware-in-the-loop facilities, installed system test facilities, and live-flight range missions. Work includes evaluating TSPI truth data against avionics recordings and telemetry, analyzing avionics data buses and sensor performance, and assessing RF threat simulations and emitter identification metrics. The role also develops and maintains automated Python data-analysis tools and pipelines, compares test results with specifications and requirements, authors formal test and evaluation documentation, and briefs stakeholders to support test and acquisition decisions. The position requires more than 10 years of relevant experience, demonstrated flight-test, range, or laboratory data-analysis experience, Python proficiency, TSPI correlation experience, and experience analyzing digital avionics buses and telemetry. An active DoD Secret clearance based on an SSBI investigation and U.S. citizenship at the time of application are required. A master's degree in engineering or a relevant technical discipline is required, with an allowable substitution of a bachelor's degree plus four additional years of relevant work experience. The stated annual salary range is $145,000 to $160,000, subject to qualifications, related experience, location, and contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of experience performing the duties described in the functional description.
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication and presentation skills for briefing test and program stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and identify root causes of system anomalies under dynamic operational conditions.
  • Professional experience analyzing flight-test, range, or laboratory experimental data.
  • Proficiency developing custom data-processing and analysis scripts in Python.
  • Direct experience correlating TSPI truth data against system data.
  • Demonstrated capability to decode, parse, and analyze digital avionics bus architectures and telemetry logs.
  • Experience evaluating system response to threat-simulation environments and simulated emitter scenarios.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of avionics architectures, radar theory, RF propagation, and signal-processing principles.
  • Advanced Python scripting and data-analysis skills for parsing, transforming, and statistically modeling large, multi-rate time-series datasets.
  • Knowledge of test-range instrumentation, TSPI tracking methods, telemetry acquisition, and ground-laboratory simulation environments.
  • Ability to identify anomaly root causes, evaluate signal-to-noise degradation, and isolate hardware or software failure modes.
  • Ability to synthesize complex statistical data into concise graphical presentations and brief multidisciplinary leadership teams.
  • Master's degree in engineering or a relevant technical discipline such as aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or another related STEM discipline; alternatively, a bachelor's degree plus four additional years of relevant work experience may substitute.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance based on an SSBI investigation; must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship at the time of application.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct domain experience conducting performance analysis on Radar Warning Receivers (RWR), Electronic Support Measures (ESM), or Electronic Warfare (EW) suites.
  • Direct experience performing performance analysis on RADAR systems, including AESA, Pulse Doppler, or synthetic aperture radar.
  • Familiarity with IRIG 106 Chapter 10/11 data standards and high-density RF threat-generation platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Process, reduce, analyze, and evaluate ground laboratory and open-air flight-test data.
  • Ingest, time-synchronize, and analyze data from ground laboratories, hardware-in-the-loop facilities, installed system test facilities, and live-flight range missions.
  • Evaluate TSPI derived from GPS, ground tracking radar, and optical assets, correlating truth data with avionics recordings and telemetry.
  • Decode, process, and analyze avionics digital data buses and telemetry formats, including MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and IRIG 106 Chapter 10/11.
  • Evaluate sensor performance, RF threat simulation logs, and emitter identification metrics in laboratory and flight conditions.
  • Develop, test, and maintain automated Python data-analysis tools and data-reduction pipelines.
  • Create automated routines for batch processing flight records, identifying anomalies, performing statistical analysis, and generating verification metrics.
  • Use software configuration management practices such as Git and create reusable modules for post-flight analysis.
  • Compare empirical test results against design specifications, system requirements, and interface control documents to identify deviations, anomalies, and trends.
  • Formulate evidence-based recommendations about whether systems meet technical specifications and operational readiness standards.
  • Author Test & Evaluation reports, requirement verification matrices, deficiency reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Prepare and present analytical findings through presentations, dashboards, and briefing slides to test and program stakeholders.
  • Participate in pre-flight test readiness reviews and post-flight debriefs to establish data-collection criteria and optimize test-point execution.
