About The Position

Moog’s Santa Barbara Operations provides sub-systems and components for every mission critical system on a modern military vehicle. Our heritage is in electrohydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems and now, through acquisitions and internal development, Moog provides expert solutions in: Stabilized Turret Drive Systems, Integrated Weapon Systems (full turret from mechanical design to fire control electronics and software), Ammunition Handling, Data Control and Distribution, and Power Management and Distribution. We are looking for a System Engineer at our location in Santa Barbara, California. We provide sub-systems and components for every mission critical system on a modern military vehicle. Our heritage is in electrohydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems and now, through acquisitions and internal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in engineering
  • 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience working in team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of motivation and willingness to learn
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to access US export-controlled information
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Turret fire control systems design, integration, and test experience
  • MATLAB/Simulink expertise
  • Active DoD Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the system design of environmentally robust, high reliability liner and rotary actuators.
  • Evaluate the system design using a variety of engineering disciplines to include mechanical, structural dynamics, electrical, thermal and rotary motion leading to development of integrated electromechanical systems and electromechanical motion systems.
  • Based on fundamental engineering principles, predict the system level performance of candidate approaches and select the optimum approach to specific applications.
  • Lead an integrated product development team to insure timely and successful project completion.
  • Understand/interpret customer specifications and requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% depending on mission requirement. (historically has been 10%-15%)
