About The Position

Globe Machine Manufacturing is seeking a Systems Engineer to lead the design and execution of mechanical equipment solutions and manage and develop a team of engineers. The position combines hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, guiding mechanical design, ensuring technical excellence, and delivering complex industrial equipment that meets customer, manufacturing, and commercial requirements. The role is located in Tacoma, Washington, and works closely with Project Management, Operations, Controls, and Sales. The Systems Engineer leads and mentors mechanical engineers focused on capital equipment and material handling systems; provides technical direction, design oversight, and coaching; and supports workload planning, resource allocation, and project prioritization. The role oversees designs for conveyors, stackers, and other industrial equipment used in heavy manufacturing, reviewing and approving designs, calculations, layouts, and specifications to ensure performance, safety, manufacturability, and cost targets are met. The position also leads complex technical problem-solving and root-cause analysis, guides decisions related to materials, mechanisms, structural integrity, and system performance, and supports installation planning and field or commissioning challenges as needed. The engineer collaborates across the organization to support project schedules and budgets, production-ready designs, and technical scoping and customer requirements. The role drives engineering best practices, standards, documentation, and improvements to design processes, tools, and workflows.
