Furnace Systems & Plant Equipment Mechanical Engineer

Outokumpu•Londonderry, NH
•$122,600 - $168,500

About The Position

EvoMaterials, a division of Outokumpu Stainless, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its R&D team in Londonderry, New Hampshire. The company has established a pilot plant for developing proprietary selective sulfidation technology. Construction is being finalized, with commissioning beginning and the plant planned to be fully operational by Q1 2027. The engineer will lead the design, modification, and integration of high-temperature furnace systems and associated plant equipment, working alongside process engineers to advance the technology. The role combines hands-on mechanical design with responsibility for furnace systems, auxiliary equipment, and facility modifications. The engineer will own mechanical design changes ranging from casting molds and material-handling carts to major furnace modifications and exhaust system redesigns. Designs must account for demanding high-temperature, sulfur-bearing environments and support safe, reliable, maintainable operations. The position involves developing and coordinating equipment layouts and designs; preparing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and compliance documentation; supporting fabrication, installation, and commissioning; and leading mechanical design reviews and management-of-change activities. The role also includes evaluating materials and equipment performance, investigating failures, and maintaining traceable records of design decisions and as-built conditions. The listed salary range is USD 122,600–168,500. The position is located in Londonderry, NH; no specific workplace arrangement is stated.
