Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 4 to join our team in Chandler, AZ. The Systems Engineer 4 will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. This is a hands-on engineering position requiring strong analytical skills, a willingness to learn complex DoD requirements, and the ability to operate under senior engineer guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of professional experience or Master’s Degree with 6 years of professional experience.
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Must have active DoD Government Security clearance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in team environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience writing, validating or verifying interface requirements
  • Knowledge of launch vehicles
  • Experience in electrical design analysis including power budgets, signal integrity, thermal considerations, grounding/bonding and interface compatibility
  • Familiarity with avionics interfaces and hardware such as RS-485, Ethernet, ARINC-429, CAN, GPS, INS, FPGAs, D38999-style connectors, or similar.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards such as IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-HDBK-516, or DO-160
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Surety

Responsibilities

  • Implements and manages system requirement changes in the Requirements Management databases under direction of more experienced engineers.
  • Revises and manages both original and revised specification/interface definition document and expedites documents through signature approval process.
  • Manages the requirements verification database provided to the customer, to ensure, as the system design/build matures, that it satisfies each system requirement.
  • Modifies management tracking reports for a variety of systems engineering performance parameters, resource metrics and design margins.
  • May also be required to support proposal-writing efforts for Systems Engineering.
  • Implements changes to Functional/Logical/Physical Model of System Architecture and support less experienced engineers with similar tasking
  • Supports system design, analyses, interface verification, testing, failure/anomaly resolution or mission operations
  • Supports the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation.
  • Attends and prepares materials to supports system engineers during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and System Verification Review.
  • Supports trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design assessments, Operations Analysis work such as mission analysis and timelines and CONOPS development.
  • Analyzes cost history for bidders from projects where directly involved.
