Systems Engineer (Security)

Custom Computer Specialists•Hauppauge, NY

About The Position

The Systems Engineer is responsible for technical ownership, design, coordination, implementation, and successful execution of network and physical security integration projects, from initial construction survey through final project closeout. The position combines enterprise network engineering with advanced video surveillance and physical security systems expertise, particularly Genetec Security Center, Genetec Omnicast, and IP video surveillance. The engineer works with project teams, contractors, security vendors, and technology partners to design and implement secure, scalable, highly available network and video surveillance environments. Duties include conducting construction and security surveys; reviewing architectural and engineering drawings; developing network and camera designs; validating camera placement and coverage; preparing Bills of Materials; reviewing MDF/IDF telecommunications spaces; overseeing field integration; and producing accurate as-built and CADD documentation. The role also involves hands-on implementation and troubleshooting of Genetec systems and their underlying network infrastructure. Serving as a security technical lead within the field engineering team, the Systems Engineer mentors technical staff, coordinates vendors, drives process improvements, implements automation, and maintains consistent communication. The role requires strong technical judgment and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic construction and technology environment. The standard schedule is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During school breaks, summer months, or as business operations require, the schedule may change to 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Employees must maintain a flexible schedule and may work adjusted hours to meet project timelines, construction schedules, deployments, maintenance windows, emergency response, or other operational needs. Travel throughout New York City's five boroughs and reporting to Long Island Headquarters are required; the role may change to reporting to headquarters only.
