About The Position

The Systems Engineer supports rapidly growing infrastructure of Linux servers and deployment/maintenance of custom ICS applications via automation. This person will also assist with planning and deploying resources to cloud platforms as needed to support the business.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience maintaining production Linux infrastructure in a leading role.
  • Familiarity with various automation platforms for on-prem and cloud based infrastructure (e.g. Ansible, AWX, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with deploying and maintaining cloud based infrastructure, specifically Google Cloud Platform with a strong emphasis on following best practices regarding security and scaling.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong attention to detail and well-honed troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills to work directly with manager to plan/deploy/maintain new projects.
  • Familiarity with creating and maintaining CICD workflows and webhooks/integrations within Gitlab.
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems, preferably Rocky or other RHEL based distributions.
  • Advanced ability to accomplish tasks via a Linux command line.
  • Experience using a trouble ticket system, such as Service Now.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL and maintaining systems that host Postgres or MySQL databases.
  • Experience with containers and on-prem virtualization platforms (e.g. Kubernetes, VMWare).
  • Experience with Datadog as it relates to integrations, log management, metrics and alerts.
  • Experience with server management tools. (e.g. Satellite/Foreman, IdM/FreeIPA).
  • Experience managing web, caching and load balancing servers (e.g. Apache, Valkey/Redis, HAProxy).
  • Experience with OpenBao or Hashicorp Vault.
  • Experience with creating and maintaining automations to insure compliance with NIST 800-53.
  • Experience with FedRAMP within various cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
  • Experience supporting server class hardware and storage.(e.g. 45Drives Ceph clusters and Dell PowerProtect Data Domain).

Responsibilities

  • Writing and maintaining code for the purposes of automating various functions of the organization.
  • Monitor logs and dashboards to proactively identify and resolve troubles.
  • Break/fix escalations from various departments.
  • Patching security vulnerabilities and bugs via server management platform.
  • Identify and implement new tools to improve operations.
  • Maintain existing project documentation and create new documentation as needed.
  • Other duties as determined by the needs of the business.
