About The Position

This position is for a Systems Engineer located at the National Military Command Center (NMCC) within the Pentagon. The role requires 100% onsite work, Monday through Friday, with core hours between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a TS/SCI security clearance. The role involves administering computer systems, operating and supporting large-scale computer systems, multi-server local area networks, and client/server environments. Key responsibilities include systems administration, engineering, architecture, integration, hardware/software configuration management, system optimization, resource utilization, capacity analysis, planning, server/data migrations, technology refreshes, system upgrades, troubleshooting, and requirements management. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with substitutions available for advanced degrees or extensive general experience. A DoD IAT Level II certification is also mandatory.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of overall experience
  • At least 3 years of specialized experience administering computer systems
  • Experience operating or supporting: Large-scale computer systems, Multi-server local area networks, Client/server environments

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline plus 3 years general experience and at least 2 years specialized experience OR No degree plus 8 years general experience and at least 6 years specialized experience
  • Must possess at least one DoD IAT Level II certification, including: Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP
  • Extensive hands-on experience building and managing VMware environments
  • Extensive experience with VMware ESXi, VMware vSphere 7.x / 8.x, VMware vCenter, and VMware clusters
  • Experience building VMware environments from the ground up
  • Experience configuring VMware High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), Host networking, Virtual switches, Distributed switches, Datastores, and Cluster resources
  • Experience implementing and managing enterprise VMware deployments
  • Experience supporting VMware clusters across multi-server enterprise networks
  • Hands-on experience deploying Dell PowerEdge R770 servers
  • Experience with Server racking, Power cabling, Network cabling, Initial server configuration, Bare-metal deployment, and ESXi hypervisor installation and configuration
  • Experience integrating servers with Dell PowerVault ME5 Series SAN storage arrays or comparable enterprise SAN infrastructure
  • Experience with Fiber-optic storage connectivity, Direct-Attach Copper (DAC), Isolated backend storage fabrics, Block-level shared storage, iSCSI, Dedicated storage VLANs, Storage multipathing, Redundant storage paths, Jumbo Frames, MTU 9000, VMware datastores, Shared storage architectures
  • Ability to design and maintain resilient host-to-array connectivity
  • Experience isolating storage traffic from production network traffic
  • Proven experience performing physical and/or virtual server migrations
