About The Position

This associate will be responsible for driving technical excellence in areas pertaining to both biological science and mechanical testing (i.e. Instron) & design. Provide solid technical skill and engineering support for design and development activities for new and existing products. Contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts for new products and enhancements to current product performance. Engineer robust and manufactural products through strong understanding and application of engineering fundamentals. Develop and execute test methods which specify measurement equipment, test set-up, measurement systems analysis, and data analysis. Write detailed technical reports based on design verification analysis/testing for design changes and product design activities. Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures and practices as well as with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. BS degree in engineering is required (Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering preferred). 2+ years of engineering experience is required, preferably in medical devices. Demonstrated ability to utilize statistical tools and computer analysis.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering (Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • 2+ years of engineering experience, preferably in medical devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize statistical tools and computer analysis.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Operation of mechanical measurement equipment (e.g. Instron).
  • Experience in mechanical and other physical testing of medical devices.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis using software such as Minitab.
  • Design for Six Sigma.
  • Fixture design using CAD.
  • Working knowledge of 21 CFR 820 Quality System Regulations (including design controls and document controls).
  • Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Lab equipment software validation and LIMS (laboratory information management system) experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Run test procedures for the Chemistry, Biological Science and Clinical laboratories.
  • Run mechanical test procedures on an Instron
  • Execute studies investigating and trouble-shooting technical issues for technology and product development.
  • Prepare written technical reports, summaries and quantitative analyses of assigned projects.
  • Provides general laboratory support including SOP development and maintenance for laboratory instrumentation.
