About The Position

The Systems Engineer plays an essential role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the organization's IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting servers, networks, and other computer systems to meet the organization's operational needs. The Systems Engineer will proactively monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades or patches to enhance security and functionality. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to align IT services with business objectives and to support end-users effectively. Ultimately, this role ensures that all systems run smoothly, securely, and with minimal downtime, enabling the organization to operate at peak efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 – 5 years experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role managing Windows server environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and task optimization.
  • Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Azure Administrator or CompTIA Network+.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and experience implementing security controls.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Intune or Tanium.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware components across servers and network devices.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability of IT services.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to maintain security and compliance standards.
  • Perform regular backups, disaster recovery operations, and system updates to safeguard data integrity.
  • Collaborate with IT team members and other departments to plan and implement infrastructure improvements and upgrades.
