About The Position

The SkillBridge Internship - Systems Engineer /HOH Fellows program at General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is an approved SkillBridge Organization opportunity designed to prepare active-duty military members and military spouses for their transition to civilian life. Participants will gain valuable civilian experience through specific industry training and job-shadowing opportunities during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The program focuses on developing best-in-class skills on mission-critical work, preparing individuals to meet GDMS's mission of providing smarter mission-critical systems and products to defense, civil government, intelligence, and cybersecurity customers. This comprehensive internship includes professional development, networking with leadership, and training on GDMS leadership expectations, company history, customer engagement, product overviews, and core job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • SkillBridge Eligibility: Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • SkillBridge Eligibility: Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
  • SkillBridge Eligibility: Will receive an honorable discharge
  • SkillBridge Eligibility: Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • SkillBridge Eligibility: Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • SkillBridge Eligibility: Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering, including Test & Integration, Requirements, MBSE, or Hardware-Systems.
  • Knowledge of systems design, MBSE modeling, and simulation.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (DOORS, Cameo, or similar).
  • Experience with defense, aerospace, or mission-critical systems.
  • Successful completion of all necessary company agreements and documentation will also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute systems engineering activities in Test & Integration, Requirements, MBSE, or Hardware-Systems, depending on focus area.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Document, review, and manage system requirements using requirements management tools and MBSE.
  • Participate in design reviews, verification, and validation activities.
  • Job-shadow and learn from experienced leaders and other smart, motivated people.
  • Develop best in class skills on mission critical work.
